Aquaportal

Aquaportal in Italy it's know as the italian aquarium portal and this is what is it.

It's a very complete site with a lot of articles, datasheets, pictures, links and all what You need on aquarium... but it's also full of advertising and for that very huge. Banners and other forms of advertising are always in and the whole is unpleasant... it's, really, saved only from it's contents.

Rare Aquatic Plants

Sometimes, surfing the web, You can meet web sites that are really like jewels. One of these is Rare Aquatic Plants. Despite of his title the whole site is in italian so You may need a web translator to go on.
First thing You meet is something like a blog with two specific arguments: rare aquarium plants and caridina species shrimps.
The whole is professional and positively impressive.

Looking around You can discover that, to read the articles a registration is needed (don't worry, it's free). From here You will soon discover the related forum.
It contains only few recent posts but I think it's due to the very specific arguments related to site. Despite that the posts are good should be read...

Hagen

Hagen is a company that produces products for animals, which some time ago, was well known among aquarists for its aquariums lamps.

Their site is probably one of the least updated in the web and is very basic.
Between its pages, however, is a small jewel: four PDF numbers

E.C. meters

The measurement of conductivity is often overlooked in aquariums, despite its undoubted utility. For lovers of DIY here are two articles that explain how to achieve a conductivity meter.
The first
is at it.hobby.acquari. The circuit , though very simple to implement, has the disadvantage of requiring a PC for the measure.

The other circuit is on octiva net: it's a school project and is relatively simple and very well explained ...

Little signs of life

I think that every aquarium keeper has happened, sooner or later, to see, at least once, small signs of life moving in water without being able to identify him. I have found at least 3 web sites that can help you find out what you face ...

The first iis a section of Microscopy UK. Here we can find a section named "Pond Life Identification Kit" . From a drawings menu you are driven link by link to specific articles on the identified specie .

The second is a personal site of an Italian hobbyist named Luciana Bartolini. The section "Insetti e larve d'acqua" ("Water Insects and larvae ") contains some detailed pictures of various kinds of these animals.

Mondo Discus is a wider site translated into several languages and with sections on other species in addition to the discus. There are also some articles more general, but still valid, on aquariums, and aquatic plants.
